Bermuda grass is from AED 70 per sqm and Paspalum from AED 85 per sqm. Here is how to keep a natural lawn alive through a Dubai summer.

Natural lawn in Dubai starts at AED 70 per sqm for Bermuda grass and AED 85 per sqm for Paspalum, supplied and installed, with no minimum area. Keeping it alive through summer comes down to watering at the right time, mowing correctly, feeding, and checking your irrigation.
Key takeaways
- Bermuda grass is from AED 70 per sqm. Paspalum is from AED 85 per sqm. Both are supplied and installed.
- There is no minimum area, so a small patch is fine.
- Water early in the morning or in the evening, not in the middle of the day.
- Don't cut the lawn too short in summer, and don't take off too much in one mow.
- Most summer lawn problems start with irrigation: blocked heads, broken lines, or a controller set wrong.
- The first weeks after laying matter most. Keep the new turf moist and keep traffic off it.
How much does a natural lawn cost in Dubai?
We install two natural grasses, both from "from" prices:
- Bermuda grass: from AED 70 per sqm, supplied and installed.
- Paspalum: from AED 85 per sqm, supplied and installed.
There is no minimum area. The final price depends on the site, so we confirm it after a free site visit. Related work such as soil preparation, levelling, irrigation changes or removing an old lawn is also quoted after the visit, because it depends entirely on what's there today. For more on the process, see our grass installation service and the grass installation guide.
If you're still choosing between the two, our comparison page on Bermuda vs Paspalum grass in Dubai sets them side by side.
How do you keep a natural lawn alive through a Dubai summer?
Both grasses are warm-season grasses, and they handle heat far better than cool-season lawn grasses. They still need care from June to September, when the heat and humidity are at their worst.
The basics:
- Water at the right time.
- Mow at the right height.
- Feed it in general terms to match the season.
- Check the irrigation regularly.
- Look at the shade.
The sections below take each in turn.
When should you water a lawn in Dubai in summer?
Early in the morning or in the evening. Water applied in the middle of the day loses more to evaporation and sits on hot turf. Early morning is usually best, because the grass dries during the day instead of staying wet overnight.
Water deeply and less often rather than a little every few hours. Deeper watering encourages deeper roots, and deeper roots cope better with heat. If you see footprints that stay pressed into the lawn, or the grass turning a dull grey-green, it needs water. Your irrigation timer should be checked, and adjusted by season, not left on one setting all year. Our guide to preparing a garden for the Dubai summer covers the wider picture.
How short should you mow a lawn in Dubai?
Don't scalp it. Cutting grass very short in the hottest months exposes the soil and stresses the plant. A good rule is to never remove more than about a third of the leaf blade in one cut, so mow more often rather than cutting hard. Sharp mower blades give a clean cut, and ragged cuts leave the grass open to stress.
Leave the clippings on the lawn when they're short, so they return nutrients. If you'd rather not do it yourself, our lawn mowing service covers it.
How should you feed a lawn?
In general terms, warm-season grasses are fed during the growing season, using a lawn fertiliser at the rate on the label. Overfeeding is a common mistake: too much fertiliser can burn the grass, especially in heat. Water the lawn after feeding so the product washes in. If the soil is poor or salty, ask us to look at it rather than adding more fertiliser. See plant fertilizing if you want it done for you.
What irrigation problems hurt lawns most?
Most lawns that fail in summer have an irrigation problem. Check regularly for:
- Blocked or broken sprinkler heads and dry patches next to wet ones.
- Leaks and wet spots in the lawn.
- Heads that spray onto paving or walls instead of grass.
- A controller still running a winter schedule.
A walk around the lawn while the system is running takes ten minutes and finds most faults. See our irrigation system service and irrigation systems guide for more.
How does shade affect a natural lawn?
Bermuda and Paspalum both do best in full sun. A lawn that sits in shade for much of the day will usually thin out. If part of your garden is shaded by walls, a villa or trees, a lawn may not be the best fit there. Other ground cover, planting or hard surfaces can suit those spots, and we can advise at the site visit.
What should you do in the first weeks after laying a lawn?
This is the most important period. New turf is still rooting into the soil underneath.
- Keep it moist so the roots don't dry out, especially in hot weather. That usually means more frequent, lighter watering at the start.
- Keep foot traffic, pets and furniture off it until it has knitted into the soil.
- Hold off the first mow until the turf is firmly rooted, then take only a little off.
- Watch for dry edges and seams, which dry out first.
After that, move to the deeper, less frequent watering described above.
