Drip Irrigation

Drip irrigation delivers water slowly and directly to the root zone through small emitters along a tube, rather than spraying it over an area.
A drip system runs low-pressure tubing with emitters spaced along its length, each releasing water at a fixed, slow rate directly onto the soil surface near a plant's roots. Because water isn't sprayed through the air, evaporation and wind drift losses are far lower than with sprinklers, and the leaves themselves stay dry, which reduces some fungal disease risk.
In Dubai and the wider UAE, drip is the standard choice for beds, hedges, and trees, while sprinklers remain more practical for open lawn areas that need uniform overhead coverage. Because mains water here carries more dissolved minerals than in many other regions, drip emitters are more prone to clogging over time and need periodic flushing or filter cleaning to keep delivering their rated flow rate.
A basic timer or a smart controller can run a drip system on a schedule; either way, run-time, not just frequency, is what determines whether water actually reaches the root depth of a lawn, shrub, or tree.
