Sprinkler Zone

Gardens are rarely watered as a single unit. Instead, they're split into zones grouped by plant type and water need, each fed by its own valve, so a lawn zone can run a different schedule and duration than a shrub bed or tree zone on the same property.

Zoning matters because a lawn, a bed of drought-tolerant shrubs, and a mature tree don't need the same amount of water at the same frequency; combining them onto one valve forces a compromise that either overwaters one group or underwaters another. Drip and sprinkler heads are almost always kept on separate zones too, since they operate at different flow rates and pressures.

Most villa mains in the UAE can comfortably support several simultaneous zones, and a controller (basic timer or smart) programmes each zone's run-time and frequency independently, which is what allows a single system to give a lawn twice-daily summer watering while a bed of established native shrubs gets water only every few days.
